Alice Underground, London, United Kingdom. Tumble down the rabbit hole as Alice returns to The Vaults following its 2015 sell-out run! Watch the video, get the download or listen to BUCK-TICK – Alice in Wonder Underground for free. Alice in Wonder Underground appears on the album 天使の. ‘We’re all mad here’, says a grinning purple Cheshire cat. He’s not wrong. I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole and it is absolutely bonkers. Well, technically I’m in the Vaults in Waterloo, but it feels like another world. After a sell-out run in 2015, Les Enfants Terribles and ebp’s ‘Alice’s Adventures Underground’ has returned to the Vaults for more immersive adventures. We’re ushered into a room filled with dusty books, grand chandeliers, an old piano, and a looking glass, of course. ![]() A blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman appears behind the looking glass. She is Alice, presumably, but she can’t remember her name. ‘Who am I?’ she asks, before disappearing. But that’s the last we see of her for a while, because this is not Alice’s adventure – it’s ours. Like a group of excited schoolchildren, we move through a tunnel lined with yellowing book pages and our adventure begins. You decide whether to ‘eat me’ or ‘drink me’ to determine which path you’ll take (there are 24 adventures happening at the same time, making it almost impossible to see the same show twice). You’re given a playing card and split into ‘suits’. Each group is led by a performer throughout, which means there’s an actual narrative (albeit a totally mad one), so you’re not left wandering aimlessly. It’s not just the experience that’s impressive – the logistics are enough to give you a headache. ![]() ![]() There are 33 rooms, each with an elaborate set; 12 entries to the show every night, with over 670 audience members; and 39 cast members, who play at least four characters each. It’s pretty mind-blowing that this show doesn’t miss a beat. Immersive theatre can sometimes be clumsy and awkward, but this is seriously slick. We move seamlessly from a lavish Mad Hatter’s tea party (with cocktails in teacups, obvs) to snaffling the Queen’s tarts and listening to tales from a caterpillar smoking a shisha pipe, brought to life with puppetry – it truly is curiouser and curiouser. By: Isabelle Aron Posted: Thursday April 27 2017. Couldn't disagree more with the last two reviews. You only have to see on Twitter the reason why this is selling out. The design is impeccable and so so beautiful and as a theatre goer who visits many so called immersive theatre shows this is way beyond anything seen before. Yes the drinks are expensive but hey, that's the bar not the show! The show itself is performed with great skill, attention to detail and all are absolutely brilliant. You can tell great care has been taken to make this a different show and one that is trying something completely new - I can't even imagine the logistics behind this its so complex. But where else in London are you going to see a giant frog and rabbit have an argument right in front of you, have tweedle dum and dee fly right past your head, go into a room that rains and have a tea party on a huge table with the Mad Hatter himself. One of the best theatrical experiences I have ever had - go now before it sells out and believe every word of the Time Out review! Completely agree with the previous comment, having seen really good immersive theatre, I had high hopes for this one. I felt cheated with the over priced tickets and drinks and was very disappointed with the amateur acting. The whole thing is over before you even realise its begun. They make you choose eat or drink, but you actually don't eat or drink anything apart from a gummy bear. The whole thing was a shambles. It's a shame given that Alice is such great story. Maybe Punch Drunk/National Theatre should give it a shot. I've never felt compelled to write a review before, but after seeing this I felt I'd been conned out of the price of the ticket. Amateur dramatic performances at best and a half baked set, it felt as though we were on a guided bus tour being shifted around from room to room. Unable to get immersed into the experience due to the lack of attention to detail and the fact you could hear what was going on in the other rooms wherever you were. I had high hopes for this, but was genuinely disappointed. As an aside to add insult to injury the cocktails were luke warm, barely drinkable and overpriced too! Don't waste your money. This costs the same as a Punch Drunk production and it compares poorly. The set lacked attention to detail, the acting was amateurish and make-up and hair lazy. It felt awful being herded around in big groups and it was so light you could see the audience members dragging along their handbags and coats. The venue was much too small for the number of punters they'd packed in there. The show is a series of set pieces - none particularly memorable. As the first review says - you could hear the set pieces (what you had already been shown and were about to be shown) going on in the rooms next door. A t no point did you forget that you were part of the audience in a play - r eally disappointing. It was noted for being a break away from the externally applied grunge label affixed to the group. Described the album as a 'musical rebirth,' and remarked that in contrast to the raw distortions associated with grunge, Alice in Chains' sound was 'cleanly delineated and meticulously layered.' Jon Wiederhorn of Rolling Stone called the album 'liberating and enlightening, the songs achieve a startling, staggering and palpable impact.' Bill Adams of Ground Control Magazine, reviewing Alice in Chains discography wrote 'If indeed turned out to be the gateway that got so many more people hooked on Alice in Chains, it can only be said that the band's self-titled album implies withdrawals or a sense of significant unease or discomfort. The signs that something is just not right appear everywhere both on and in Alice in Chains; the front cover features a photo of a three-legged dog (one too few) while the back cover presents a picture of a three-legged mandolinist (one too many). The album's liner notes feature images of ghastly, contorted with no flesh on their arms, sinister, personified bottles swimming through black oceans, cartoons of animals standing on trial, synthetic limbs and more. They are images of turmoil, and discomfort, and it's difficult to look at them.' Alice in Chains included the singles ', ', and ', all of which had accompanying. 'Grind' and 'Again' were nominated for the in 1996 and 1997, respectively. The music video for 'Again' was nominated for at the. Packaging and title [ ] The album is also known informally as 'Tripod' or 'Three-Legged Dog Album' due to a three-legged dog on the and on the back. The image of the dog on the cover was inspired by a three-legged dog named Tripod that used to terrorize drummer and chase him around during his paper-work duty when he was a kid. Kinney also designed the artwork for the album. Photographed the three-legged dog for the album cover at a playground near downtown Los Angeles on August 23, 1995. Schenck did a casting for three-legged dogs for the shoot, but the band ended up choosing a fax with the image of a dog as the cover shot. A different three-legged dog named Sunshine was used for the 'Grind' music video. The photo of the dog shot by Schenck at the playground was finally used years later on the 1999 box set. Contrary to rumor, none of the dogs used for the photoshoot, the album's cover or the music video belonged to Jerry Cantrell. The was initially available in three versions: one with a transparent purple with a yellow-green spine, one with the color scheme reversed and a predominantly version. The purple jewel case is currently and the yellow-green edition is now a rarity. On the predominantly monochrome cover, the dog has yellow eyes. The cassette edition features a purple cassette or transparent yellow-green case. It was also released on double vinyl with a purple label on the A-side and a yellow-green label on the B-side of both discs. Disc 1 featured tracks 1-6, disc 2 featured tracks 7-12 and both discs had 3 tracks per side. In Japan, the CD cover is replaced with a blank, white cover with the dark blue text 'Alice In Chains' appearing inside of a dark blue border in the bottom-right corner. The image of Frank Lentini was also removed, showing a mostly white back cover. Track listing [ ] All lyrics written by, except where noted. Title Lyrics Music Length 1. ' Cantrell 4:44 2. The Terminator would have a great effect on the Aliens but not the predator. ![]() ![]() When a private satellite encounters an unidentified source of heat in Antarctica and it is found to be a pyramid buried deep underground, a search team comprising of top-of-the-line archaeologists and engineers is sent to Antarctica to find out more. Once there, the team comes across signs which indicate that the place is inhabited by an unknown alien species. It is not long before the aliens begin to hunt the team members. At the same time, a trio of coming-of-age Predators have arrived to collect the skulls of the aliens as trophies, and the humans are caught between a deadly battle between the two warring species. Just watched it again yesterday - it's striking how good the action is compared to the ridiculous dialogue. I completely understand why this movie got such terrible reviews; after all, it marked the first 'let's make a quick buck' entry in the two beloved Alien and Predator franchises and was done by a director who many felt didn't treat the material with the respect it deserved. When I watched it yesterday I got angry at times because some of the dialogue - well, most of it, actually - is truly awful. It's hard to take characters or a story seriously when nearly every sentence spoken resembles lines from a parody of cheap science-fiction and horror movies from the fifties and sixties. But despite all those flaws I have to admit I enjoyed the movie from start to finish - because of the amazing set- and creature-design and the more than decent action sequences and special effects. Whoever designed those really scored and seems to have a great love for the art of Giger and the previous films. So if you can get past the silly characters and you're able to ignore the more obvious shortcomings (like the idiotic decision to make the film PG-13) you're in for a fun ride.
